Tour Plan

8:00 AM - Hotel Pickup in Bangkok
Your day begins with a convenient pickup from your Bangkok hotel. Your private guide will greet you in the lobby, holding a sign with your name for easy recognition. Relax in the comfort of an air-conditioned vehicle as you begin your journey to Ayutthaya, which takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
Visit Bang Pa-In Palace (Summer Palace)
The first stop on your private Ayutthaya day tour is the Bang Pa-In Palace, also known as the Summer Palace, a magnificent royal complex. Once a retreat for Thai kings, this palace showcases an incredible mix of architectural styles, including Thai, Chinese, and European influences. Explore the extensive gardens, visit the Phra Thinang Aisawan Thiphya-Art pavilion, which sits serenely on a lake, and admire the intricate details of the palace’s structures. As your guide shares fascinating historical facts, you will get a glimpse into the lives of Thailand’s royal family.
Visit Wat Yai Chai Mangkhon (Reclining Buddha)
Your next destination is Wat Yai Chai Mangkhon, an impressive Buddhist temple that dates back to the 14th century. Famous for its massive stupa, this temple is one of the most iconic in Ayutthaya. Standing at 62 meters, the stupa is a symbol of enlightenment, and its golden spire can be seen from afar. You will also encounter the peaceful and serene Reclining Buddha, a massive statue that represents the Buddha’s transition to nirvana. Walk through the temple’s peaceful grounds and admire the rows of seated Buddha statues that add to the spiritual ambiance. Learn from your guide about the historical significance of the temple and its role in Ayutthaya’s religious life.
Authentic Thai Lunch at a Local Restaurant
After exploring Wat Yai Chai Mangkhon, it's time to enjoy a traditional Thai lunch at a local restaurant in Ayutthaya. Indulge in authentic regional dishes such as Pad Thai, Tom Yum Soup, Green Curry, or Som Tum (Papaya Salad). This is the perfect opportunity to sample the bold and aromatic flavors of Thai cuisine and recharge before continuing your exploration.
Explore Wat Mahathat (Iconic Buddha Head in Tree Roots)
After lunch, visit Wat Mahathat, one of the most famous temples in Ayutthaya. Known for the Buddha head entwined in the roots of a banyan tree, this temple is one of the most photographed spots in the city. The ancient ruins are an impressive sight, and your guide will explain the history of this temple, once a political and religious center of Ayutthaya. Learn about its role during the glory days of the kingdom, its decline during the Burmese invasion in 1767, and the unique symbolism of the Buddha head, which has become a symbol of spiritual resilience.
Visit Wat Phra Sri Sanphet (The Royal Temple)
Next, visit Wat Phra Sri Sanphet, one of the most important temples in Ayutthaya. It was the royal temple, serving as the spiritual center of the Ayutthaya kingdom. Admire the three towering chedis (stupas) that once held the ashes of Ayutthaya’s kings. The grandeur of this temple’s ruins, though partially destroyed during the Burmese invasion, still speaks volumes of its historical significance. Your guide will provide insights into the temple's spiritual and royal significance and explain how it was central to the religious ceremonies of the Thai monarchy.
Visit Vihara Phra Mongkhon Bophit (Giant Bronze Buddha)
Continue to Vihara Phra Mongkhon Bophit, where you will encounter one of the largest bronze Buddha statues in Thailand. Standing nearly 9 meters tall, this awe-inspiring statue represents the Buddha in a meditative posture. The temple, which sits behind the royal palace, offers a serene and reflective atmosphere. Take in the peaceful surroundings and learn about the significance of the Buddha statue and its role in Ayutthaya’s spiritual life.
Visit Wat Lokayasutharam (Reclining Buddha Temple)
Your final stop on this full-day exploration of Ayutthaya’s temples is Wat Lokayasutharam, home to the massive Reclining Buddha, which measures an impressive 42 meters long. This site is the perfect way to end your spiritual journey through Ayutthaya, offering a quiet space for reflection. The giant statue is a powerful symbol of Buddha’s passing into nirvana. Your guide will share captivating stories about the significance of the statue and the temple’s history.

Great experience with tour guide Pond at Ayutthaya

Our guide Pond was very professional and knowledgeable. The detail and history provided definitely was worth the value of having a private tour when with this tour guide. Above and beyond our expectations we would have give more than 5 out 5 if we could. Would highly recommend to anyone else if wanting to do this tour and make sure you ask for tour guide Pond..

Fantastic Experience

A fantastic trip with a very skilled and careful driver and Aey, the best possible guide. She was so knowledgeable and made it her mission to make me feel comfortable. I learnt so much about Thai history and even Bangkok. I really recommend to start the trip at 7 or 8 am, as the morning is the most peaceful time in Ayutthaya..

Wonderful visit to Ayutthaya

We had a great private tour visiting the Bang Pa-In Royal Palace and 5 temples in Ayutthaya. Each was unique and equally interesting. We were picked up at our Bangkok hotel, taken to a lovely and delicious riverside hotel for lunch, and were back to the hotel by 5 pm. Our tour guide Miss Bejamas or "Puk" was very knowledgeable, and her discussions of Thai history, politics, and religions added greatly to our understanding and enjoyment. Our driver was excellent as well. Being able to retreat to the air-conditioned car with cold water was wonderful in between the sunny, hot temple visits..

Memorable & Historic Ayutthaya Full Day Tour

This UNESCO site is nice to visit with many histories and sightseeing. View is good too. We managed to know quite a lot of stories about the palace and the temples that we visited. Our tour guide is very knowledgeable about the places and able to tell us quite in-depth about the history that took place many years ago. Her explanation made us understand a lot about the King, Queen and the war that took place many centuries ago. She is also kind enough to take photos for us and also bought us joss sticks for praying. She also waited for us while we spent some time roaming around. She also introduced to us the local dessert Roti Sai Mai of Ayutthaya and bought us a packet to have a try on it. It was very nice and we will always remember this unique dessert. Overall, the tour was indeed a remarkable one for us..

Temples

Visit the temples before lunch. Even if it might be tiring, do not miss any temple. Do not lose time on any location, better to visit all the temples..
